Wildlife Photography

Scripture

Job 12:7-10 – “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you… In His hand is the life of every creature.”

2. Introduction to Wildlife Photography

  • Definition: Capturing images of animals in their natural habitat without disturbing them.
  • Challenges: Movement, lighting changes, distance.
  • Rewards: Unique moments and natural behavior.

3. Camera Settings & Techniques

  • Shutter Speed: 1/500 sec or faster for most animals, 1/1000+ for birds in flight.
  • Aperture: f/4 – f/8 for subject separation while keeping detail.
  • ISO: Adjust for lighting conditions — be ready for higher ISO in low light.
  • Focus Mode: Continuous (AI Servo for Canon / AF-C for Nikon/Sony) for moving animals.
  • Burst Mode: Capture multiple frames in quick succession.

4. Ethical Wildlife Photography

  • Keep a respectful distance — use zoom instead of approaching.
  • Never feed or bait wildlife to get a shot.
  • Be patient and quiet — avoid startling animals.
