Course Content
Tool Overview – Selection & Isolation
1. Intro to Image Editing Tools
Demo the following Photoshop features:
Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast
Hue/Saturation – show how to change overall tone or specific colors
Color Balance – shifting tones in shadows, midtones, highlights
Auto Tone / Auto Contrast – quick fixes
Project Demo: Food Photo Correction
- Walk through:
- Adjusting brightness and contrast to make it pop
- Enhancing or reducing saturation
- Slightly shifting color tone for mood
Optional: Add a subtle vignette or overlay to increase focus
Hands-On Project
Student Task: Pick a photo (or use teacher-provided food image) and do full image correction:
- Adjust brightness and contrast
- Use Hue/Saturation to enhance specific colors (e.g., greens in a salad, red in fruit)
- Add Color Balance for warmth or coolness
- Add a caption or label if time allows
Homework
- Upload Before and After JPGs to shared folder
- Submit a short answer:
- “What does ‘editing’ mean to you as a designer or artist?”
- “How can it be helpful? How can it be misused?”
