Themes & Divi Builder Introduction
Students will learn how to activate the Divi theme, navigate the Divi Builder interface, and create their first basic page layout.

→ Tie-in: Today we begin the actual building of our websites. Just as God establishes the work of our hands, we will lay the foundation for our site design.
Website Structure Basics
Review from Week 2
- Check that everyone has:
- Website title & tagline.
- Uploaded at least 10 relevant images.
- Finalized Home & About text.
Introduction to Themes in WordPress
- What a theme is: controls the look & layout of a site.
- Why Divi is different from other themes:
- Drag-and-drop builder.
- Visual editing.
- Built-in modules and templates.
Explain parent theme and child theme (brief overview).
Divi Builder Basics
- Structure of a Divi page:
- Sections (blue) → Rows (green) → Modules (gray).
- Overview of common modules:
- Text, Image, Button, Header.
- Live demo: Build a simple 3-part Home page layout:
- Hero section with a header & background image.
- About section with text & image side by side.
- Call-to-action with button.
Class Activity: Students recreate the layout on their own site using their own Home page content.
Homework
- Finish creating your Home page using Divi (with real text & images).
- Explore at least 3 other Divi modules and note what they do (we will share next week).
- Bring any questions or problems you run into while building.
