Learn how to create a consistent look and feel across their entire website using branding principles, ensuring fonts, colors, spacing, and style are uniform for a professional, cohesive design.

Website Structure Basics

What is Branding?
  • Branding is the visual and emotional identity of your site or business.

  • Key elements:

    • Logo (or consistent name styling)

    • Color palette

    • Typography

    • Tone of voice in writing

    • Image style

  • Why consistency matters:

    • Improves recognition.

    • Builds trust.

Save Logo

Steps to Save a Logo in Canva (FREE)

1. Finish Your Logo Design

  • Open your logo design in Canva.

  • Make sure everything looks correct (colors, spelling, alignment).

2. Click Share

  • Top-right corner of the screen.

  • Select Download from the menu.

3. Choose a FREE File Type

Under File type, choose one of these (all are free):

  • PNG → Best for logos (clear + high quality)

  • JPG → Good for web use, smaller file size

  • PDF Print → Best if printing your logo

Tip for logos: Choose PNG

4. Background Options (Important)

  • Transparent background ❌ This is Pro-only

  • For free users:

    • Use a solid white or colored background

    • OR place your logo on a background that matches where you’ll use it

5. Size & Quality (Free)

  • Leave Size at 1x (free default)

  • Do NOT turn on Pro features like compression sliders

6. Click Download

  • Your logo will save to your computer or device 🎉

💡 Free Logo-Saving Tips

  • Save multiple versions:

    • One with white background

    • One with dark background

  • If you need transparency later:

    • Export PNG

    • Use a free background remover like:

      • remove.bg (limited free)

      • Photopea (100% free)

Homework

Design a clean, professional logo that represents your assigned company/brand using Canva (free) and submit it correctly.

✅ Requirements

Your logo must:

  • Be original (no templates left unchanged)

  • Include:

    • Company/brand name

    • At least one graphic or symbol

  • Use no more than 3 colors

  • Be readable at small and large sizes

  • Look professional (balanced, centered, no clutter)

💾 How to Save (FREE Canva)

  1. Click Share

  2. Click Download

  3. File Type: PNG

  4. Background: White or solid color (no transparent background)

  5. Click Download

📤 What to Turn In

Upload ALL of the following to Google Classroom:

  1. PNG file of your final logo

    • File name:
      LastName_FirstName_Logo.png

  2. Screenshot of your Canva workspace
    (Shows layers and design process)

  3. Short reflection (3–5 sentences) answering:

    • Why did you choose these colors?

    • What does your logo represent?

    • Where could this logo be used? (website, social media, merch, etc.)
