Galleries & Portfolios

 learn how to create visually appealing image galleries and portfolio pages in WordPress using Divi, showcasing projects, products, or photos relevant to their website’s purpose.

Website Structure Basics

Review week 11
    • Did you publish your first blog post (if you chose to have a blog)?
    • Did you create a Blog page or section on your Home page?
    What is a Gallery vs. a Portfolio?
    • Galleries: Primarily for collections of images (photography, events, artwork).

    • Portfolios: Showcases projects or work samples with descriptions, often linking to more detail.

    • Choosing the right one based on your website’s purpose:

      • Photographers/artists → Gallery.
      • Designers/freelancers/businesses → Portfolio.
    Creating a Gallery in Divi
    • Live demo:

      • Add a new page called “Gallery” or “Portfolio.”

      • Insert Divi Gallery Module.

      • Upload/select images from the Media Library.

      • Adjust layout (grid or slider view).

      • Add captions if needed.

    • Tips:

      • Keep images consistent in size for a clean layout.
      • Group related images together.
    Creating a Portfolio in Divi
    • Live demo:

      1. Add a Portfolio Module.

      2. Create individual project posts with title, description, and images.

      3. Assign categories to organize projects.

      4. Adjust layout to display projects on the page.

    Class Activity – Build Your Gallery or Portfolio
    • Students:

      1. Decide whether they want a gallery, portfolio, or both.

      2. Create the page and insert their chosen module.

      3. Upload and arrange images or projects.

      4. Style the page to match their site’s color palette and typography.

    Homework
    1. Write at least one more blog post and publish it.

    2. Create a Blog page or section on your Home page to showcase posts.

    Ensure each post has a featured image and is categorized properly.
