Design Personality

If you were a design element, would you be a bold font, a bright color, or a simple shape? Why?

Scripture

Colossians 3:23“Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people.”

  • Set size: 3 in x 5 in (or 4×6) at 300 dpi (print quality).

  • Background: White (or transparent if you want to print later).

Step 2: Add Your Name

  • Select the Text Tool (T).

  • Type your First Name (make it bold and clear).

  • Choose a font style that reflects your personality.

  • Resize/position so it’s the main focus.

Step 3: Personalize with Design Elements

  • Add Shapes: Use the Shape Tool (U) to create circles, stars, or rectangles.

  • Add Colors: Use the Fill/Gradient Tool to add background color or patterns.

  • Insert Images or Icons: Import a small picture, graphic, or clipart that represents you (sports, camera, nature, music, etc.).

  • Try Layer Styles: (right-click layer → Blending Options) to add drop shadows, strokes, or glow effects.

Step 4: Creative Challenge (Choose 1–2)

  • Use the Brush Tool to doodle a fun design.

  • Add a favorite quote or word in smaller text.

  • Try a photo background (texture, gradient, or your own image).

Step 5: Save Your File

  • Save as PSD (to keep layers editable).

  • Export as JPEG or PNG to share in class.

Sharing

  • Each student will show their digital name tag on screen (or submit via Google Classroom).

  • Quick share: “My name tag represents me because…”

    Homework

Reflection Question: Write 2–3 sentences on how Colossians 3:23 connects to your approach in graphic design.

      • Homework:

        • Watch the two tutorial on Photoshop & Illustrator Tools. https://classes.daniellesmallwood.com/digital-graphic-arts/ Share what tool you are excited to use in the future.

        • Practice using shapes and text in Illustrator/Photoshop.

        • Create a simple graphic at home (like a digital “poster” with a verse or motivational quote).

        • Upload to Google Classroom before next class.
